FAQ

What do eBay fees add up to for a seller in Japan?
For cameras and lenses: a 13.6% final value fee, a 1.35% international fee and roughly 3% currency conversion, plus a fixed per-order fee and Japanese consumption tax on the fees. International shipping and, for the US, import duty (DDP, effective 12.5%) come on top, so cheaper items keep a smaller share. Use the calculator above to see the breakdown at any price.
Why is duty deducted only for the US?
Under eBay's policy, shipments from Japan to the US have required DDP (seller pays duty) since 17 October 2025. UK, Germany and Australia are calculated on a buyer-pays (DDU) basis.
How accurate is this?
It is an estimate. Store subscriptions, shipping method, fee changes and the exchange rate at settlement all move the real figure, and return risk is not included. Check the official eBay and Japan Post rate tables before relying on it.
