Coming from PHOTOHITO?
PHOTOHITO, the photo-sharing service operated by Kakaku.com, has announced it will end service on September 30, 2026. For years it has been a beloved place to browse sample photos by gear.
recam is a used camera and lens price-comparison service. We believe the connection between gear and the photos it takes is worth preserving, so we built a sample gallery tied to our model catalog.
recam is unaffiliated with PHOTOHITO and there is no automatic migration. You would repost photos you have saved locally, one by one.
Tied to the model catalog
Photos are organized per model (bodies and lenses) and referenced from market and valuation pages.
EXIF verification
Photos whose EXIF gear matches the model get an 'EXIF verified' badge. Film and scans are shown as 'self-reported'.
Location stripped before storage
Metadata containing private information such as GPS is entirely removed server-side before storage.
Free
Browsing and posting are free (an account is required to post).
Before the shutdown — saving your photos
According to the official notice, full-size downloads are provided one photo at a time, and congestion is expected near the end. If you have many photos, start early.
- Log in to PHOTOHITO and save your original photos following the official instructions (one by one)
- Save anything else you want to keep — favorites, comments — before the shutdown
- Choose a new home for your saved photos (the recam gallery is one option)
